Isn't it really to keep it from moving to Brooklyn and not relocate 5 miles?

yeah, Secaucus is suing because of this....

That being said, making Newark into a commercial center could be good for the rest of Jersey as well. Just not secaucus.

Um, Newark *is* a commercial center. With a skyline and everything. Ringed by its own suburbs, some very wealthy, and some not so much, and some just right. An international "liberty" airport, too, even, also.
