Discussion about
I am thinking of selling my condo in manhattan. I am thinking of selling myself in NYT but also wanted to know if anyone knows of or has worked with real estate agents / firms that operate below the standard 6% and are worth speaking to. It seems in my building the apts sell themselves and I am not so sure that there is tremendous value in paying a real estate agent a full rate.
There're lots of alternatives, e.g. http://www.theburkhardtgroup.com or http://www.urbandigs.com/BuyersConsulting/index.php
Lots of posters here go it entirely alone or just with a lawyer, but don't know whether they'd have done better with a broker. A couple factors would be the value of your time and being able to accurately gauge where your skills lie.

They sell themselves? Wow, how do they do that? Or perhaps there are brokers on the sell side of the transactions?

OP, I'd like you to note the ONE active listing Keith has on his website. If he was such hot stuff (and saving 3% was really that worthwhile, do you think he'd have just one active listing?
what are your thoughts on that?
