Discussion about
Can somebody tell me what the deal is with this building, it says Verizon on it but it looks like a military bunker or Fort Knox!? It's a giant brown structure with almost no windows on it and giant metal hoods over the few windows that are there. There are steel fences around it that curve out at the top with points on them. On the corner of Lorimer st. there's a giant metal fixture in the side walk that looks like it would be excellent for blocking car bombs!? Is it dangerous to live around this building? What is it?

It's for telephone switching equipment, etc. Verizon has several buildings like it.

my friend, in a different part of brooklyn, lived right next to a verizon building smaller then the one you're pointing out. as a newlywed, she and her husband tried to "multiply" for almost 10 yrs with on avail. they then moved to a different location and she got pregnant in less then 6 months. within 4 years of moving away, she gave birth twice. this could be a blessing or a curse ;).

i keep making fun of her saying "your wires must have been crossed".

Fantastic anecdotal evidence there.

I'm not sure EMR is anything to be really worried about, escaping EMR in NYC is going to be impossible, hell where ever you are it isn't going to be easy.

Not to mention I don't see any large antennas on the building, so its not being used as a base station. Even if it was, the evidence that that is detrimental to your health is pretty thin on the ground.

Obviously its not a pretty view though.

actually there is little emr in most apts in nyc--get a gauss meter to verify--i have a tri-field meter--cost a couple hundred bux--once found a huge electrical riser in the wall directly next to where i'd planned to put my bed!--put the bed elsewhere--worth checking near cribs etc, especially--dividing cells mutate

antennae are about microwave, another thing best avoided

I want to know if there are any plans of tearing this
buidling down. Its really ugly? Or atleast plant some trees along the side?!

I dont mind graffiti art on the side either. Why is that not an option?.. that would be so Brooklyn!
