Discussion about
Is this the "shared sacrafice" that Christie keeps talking about? For Xanadu Mall, Stalled and Scorned, Deal May Offer New Life It has been called “the ugliest damn building in New Jersey and maybe America,” has bedeviled three governors and has burned through two developers. Despite $1.9 billion spent, it is still an unfinished pile of concrete, steel and garish pastel panels. Triple Five, a... [more]

Frank Lautenberg should now try to earn the name he has on the Secaucus station. If he can't turn this around to the benefit of NJ, they out to wipe his name off, Brendan Byrne style.

How does a living person get a building named after them? I thought you have to be dead? I gues there is a different standard when your a US Senator. For goodness sake, NOTHING was named after Washington or Lincoln when they were alive.

That evil kill-joy little troll Fiorello Aytch LaGuardia started it with the municipal airport -- named for him while he was still in office. Not even El Generalisito y Major Asshole Boston Bloomberg had the nerve to do that (try as he does to build something big and public, like a midtown stadium, in the hope that everyone will step on one another to be the first to name it for him).

i get it:

Chris Christie "CHRISTENS"

def.: makes exception to provide subsidies (on backs of middle-class upon which he forces less service and higher taxes) for preferred, graft-riddled project

Let me get this straight... better the thing rots and the state gets NOTHING (except an eyesore) than to give them a break in order to turn it revenue-producing and get SOME tax.

Brilliant once again from alpo!

Socialist, I love NJ as much as the next guy. Let's be reasonable, NJ is basically a big strip mall + parking. NJ giving a subsidy to a mall is not a big deal.

Where are my subsidies? Where are my farm subsidies? I want some of those. If Bon Jovi gets them, then so should I.

Look, most of us can't control Bon Jovi. But we can wonder about this: http://streeteasy.com/nyc/talk/discussion/23109-angry-contest-columbiacounty-vs-paladino

Uh, socialist, you're aware that there is something called a mortgage deduction?

That is a SUBSIDY.

For everyone who takes a mortgage.

Then the tax credit last year.

You want MORE subsidies for buyers?

Christie is refusing to repay the feds $271 million from the cancelled train tunnel. If he does not, they are going to chrge $50,000 a week in interest. Way to go Christie! Kepe flushing money down the toilet like it grows on trees.

You do realize that MANY more people would brave the trip FROM NYC TO this mall (and surrounding stadiums, etc) if ONLY train service was better. PS - See post above mine.
