MIMA, The Marc, Ritz Plaza & The Westport

I called MiMA this morning asking about price of condo. They told me there is a sale rep will call me back. I am still waiting... Did you go see the condo in MiMA?

I only saw the apartments which are very nice but very very small for the big $$ they are charging.

I'm not sure I could live there in my opinion, the value for the money is quite small. There is the NYC chic new building factor, but I think I would rather not sell much of my furniture just so that it would fit in an apartment!

The condos are probably quite nice but based on the rents I can't imagine a one bedroom would be less than $ 900,000.00. Just a guess.....

Design of Mima is very cool, but that location is dreadful. Good place to rent (maybe), but not to buy a condo.

I agree with downtownsnob. I'm not saying I need to live in the heart of the West Village, but 42nd/10th? No way. In addition to the Lincoln Tunnel traffic, there is no neighborhood. No grocery store, no anything. Where do you go if you want a soda at night? There are no bodegas. It feels like you are living in an industrial warehouse zone. I haven't looked at the apartments, but since they are by Related, I'm sure they are pricey. No way I would pay $3000 (or even $2000) for a one bedroom in that area. Just my two cents.

ritz plaza is fine if you work in midtown and want that convenience, otherwise would prefer other locations further up the west side. the building is well-run and they are responsive to requests for service. gym is nice and pool okay. apts are functional - what you see is what you get...

This used to be my dream building but Stonehenge Management is absolutely terrible.

1- The security is lax. Almost anyone can walk in and walk out of the building without being questioned. Normally this isn't a big issue except that we're in the middle of Times Square and you have tons of shady characters walking around. My biggest fear was running into a thief or a criminal in the hallways.

2- They used the wrong paint in the bathroom when I moved in which resulted in severe green mold and water spots all over the bathroom. After a month of going back and forth, they finally repainted the bathroom with appropriate paint which solved the problem. They refused to compensate me for the inconvenience of using a moldy bathroom for a month.

3- The apartment next door is being used as a commercial office with 4 computer monitors and office workers going in and out all day, peeking through my kitchen window and balcony. You simply shouldn't be allowed to run a company with 4 full time employees in a luxury residential building. I alerted Management and they didn't care.

4- The building is used as a hotel so you always have noisy inconsiderate tourists with luggage in the lobby and the elevator. Why are they using a luxury apartment building as a hotel?

5- The residents lounge is always filthy. Enough said.

6- The lease renewal process is very unfriendly. It's strictly business and Stonehenge is all about the money.

I would avoid Ritz Plaza like the plague. Stay as far away from Ritz Plaza as you possibly can. The worst apartment decision you can possibly make is Ritz Plaza. There are hundreds of other luxury apartment buildings in NYC more deserving of your business.
