Discussion about
just curious when does a do it yourself home project need to be approved by a board. Can I do the work on my own with a few friends without approval. I realize there is a line here - a complete home kitchen renovation i could see needing board approval but what about regrouting the bathroom tile or changing the vanity in my bathroom or painting or other small things. what is the line for board approval?

generally for aesthetic things there is no need for board approval. i can't imagine why it would matter.

I can't imagine any of the things you mentioned needing any approval other than elevator scheduling and damage deposits and the like ... but your management company can give you guidance. And each coop will differ on policy. Most prohibit noisy work in evenings and on weekends.

Your house rules should address these questions.
