Discussion about
We are looking at 2 apts- one on the UWS in PS 84 school district and the other in PS 198 on the UES. I know neither of them is like PS199 or PS 6, but can anyone give me feedback on either? Our kids are still not yet school age for a couple of years. Thanks in advance.
I know nothing about 84 but I know that regular 198 is mediocre, however, last year they opened a GT at 198 and apparently people are very happy with it. Your child will have to take the Olsat and hit a 90 minimum to qualiy for the program. PREP if you move there. There are many other UES zones that are really good so maybe keep looking. General ed at 158, 183, and 290 are pretty much just as good as 6. 198 just isn't. If you want I will talk privately about it with you but I won't post it on the boards.
Oi. If only I could have a glimpse of stock prices 2 years in the future on a given day.
198 has shared space with Lower Lab (citywide) for a long time, and has a new G&T program. The hope (I'm guessing) is that the G&T acts to strengthen gened (because they share a principal and staff usually). This has happened at PS9, PS166 and PS116 (the last doesn't have G&T anymore). On the other hand, this approach didn't work at PS191.
PS84 has dual language French but I'm not sure what impact that is having on the gened body.
hi cccharley- thanks for the offer to talk about it. do you have an address i can send you an email? we like both apts but we really prefer the east side.
i saw on inside schools about PS 84 having the dual language track which looked good.
