Found this. Accurate or not, it goes beyond RE porn. I don't know what to call it. It's like the RE equivalent of an insane orgiastic baccnal. Scroll down for the plans... http://realestalker.blogspot.com/2010/09/does-martha-stewart-want-huguette.html
kylewest: LOL!
Incredible. Truly incredible. I'd KILL to see it in person.
it's out of this worrrrld!!!
It's not a floorplan that lends itself to well-flowing social interactions, so I can see why she decided to spend decades in a hospital room. Maybe she should have just opened up the kitchen instead.
For all we know, there are still 9 decrepit 100 year old servants living in the place and tidying up for the last 45 years. Would be so fascinating to wander the rooms -- what a possible window into an eccentric past.
A charmed one.
Charmed? This woman had a miserable life, first with a basically evil father who married her barely post-pubescent mother when he was over sixty, then with the aforementioned mother, semi-imprisoned in the fifth avenue apartment, and finally for over twenty years in a hospital surrounded by her dolls and the leeches who feasted on her money and kept her relatives from visiting her. If she hadn't been shielded by all this money she might have gotten treatment for her obvious psychological problems decades ago.
Even so,... I'd still like to see the apartment.
@Kyle: If it does come on the market, perhaps you may want to have a look? Family growing? I'll be happy to schedule the appointment.
happyrenter, yes, that was her biological family, and they like so totally sucked rotten eggs. But she also had another family, a modern Stone Age family that she loved very much, and they had a pet dinosaur.
Plus her hospital roommates, who were, to coin a phrase, living dolls. Never any trouble.
So, the three apartments have hit the market. 12W, 8E and 8W at http://streeteasy.com/nyc/building/907-5-avenue-new_york
No pictures yet, but the plans are up.
Story in today's paper: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/11/realestate/listings-for-fifth-avenue-apartments-owned-by-huguette-clark.html
I don't want to fight. I'll just settle for the small one. Thank you.
Small one is pretty light on the bathroom count.
I know. I'm prepared to suffer terribly. Husband hates the UES so this apartment will only be a hangout for me. Place to watch videos or have a cigar. You're all welcome. I forget: who is buying this for me?
KW, you're cute!
