I think I remember seeing pictures of one of these units on Streeteasy and if you looked real close, you could see that the end of the kitchen cabinets actually hung down over the lower part of the window.

I couldn't tell you if you'd be able to open that window, but it seemed for sure that part of the window would be blocked by the kitchen cabinet.
