Discussion about
I have a small studio which has a dressing alcove with a closet, right infront of the bathroom. I was going to take down the door to the alcove and replace it with a very nice curtain - one to match my window treatment. Someone mentioned to me that curtains are "undesirable" (even very high quality French ones) and that by taking down the door, I would be diminishing the value of the apartment. Thoughts, anyone??? Thanks!

I agree with leaving the door. It has more potential to turn the buyer off if the fabric is not to their liking, in addition to a host of other reasons. What is the buyer does not want your curtains etc?
To replace a door that matches certainly costs more than hanging curtains (even if they are fancy French ones).

As an interior designer I agree that a curtain in place of the door is a charming choice; resale, however, is another story. The buyer might prefer the door. If you're not able to store the door so that you know you have it as an option at resale, you might be better off just leaving the door in place.
