Think Progress listens to Rand Paul, self-proclaimed defender of individual liberty, who believes that Americans should be imprisoned for listening to speeches: http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2011/05/31/232182/rand-paul-criminalize-speech/

Why do Republicans hate the Constitution so much?

Maybe people should be imprisoned for worshipping the Aqua Buddha (Google it).

Just IN: Republican pres. candidate Jon Huntsman ends his campaign:

JULIE ROSE (KCPW): One of the recommendations in that proposal is that all Utahns be required to have health insurance of some sort, and those who are not able to afford it would be paid for by the state through one of the state's health programs. It's a mandate of health insurance. Are you comfortable with that, with requiring every Utahn to get health insurance?
GOV. HUNTSMAN: I'm comfortable with a requirement. You can call it whatever you want, but at some point we're going to have to get serious about how we deal with this issue and that means there will have to be a multitude of different policies that are available in the marketplace. It means that it will be more incumbent on citizens to look at responsibility, there own responsibility in terms of health, and the choices that are made. It likely will mean that we'll be in an environment with better prices, more options, more access and availability.

There is a mandate today, let us not forget, and it's called the emergency room. You show up in the emergency room, and you get covered. Who pays the bills? Taxpayers pay the bills. Companies pay the bills. So we're living in an environment today where there already is a mandate in place.

JUST IN: Tim Pawlenty aunnoces and end to his presidential election:

And so, the question then becomes – if you’re going to require insurance — and I think that is a worthy goal and one that we’re intrigued by and I think at least open to, how then do you enable people to access the insurance?”

“A combination of new efficiencies in health care and new subsidies’ from the government to help people pay for the insurance being mandated.”

JUST IN; Newt Gingrich drops out of presidential race:

"I am for people, individuals–exactly like automobile insurance–individuals having health insurance and being required to have health insurance, and I am prepared to vote for a voucher system which will give individuals, on a sliding scale, a government subsidy so we insure that everyone as individuals have health insurance”

Rand Paul said that non-citizens who attend speeches by anti-American Islamic preachers should be deported.

I guess this makes too much common sense to liberals. God forbid we deny "rights" to non-citizens who abuse our freedoms to radicalize themselves in Jihad.

Rand Paul supports deporting Tea Partiers!

PAUL: I’m not for profiling people on the color of their skin, or on their religion, but I would take into account where they’ve been traveling and perhaps, you might have to indirectly take into account whether or not they’ve been going to radical political speeches by religious leaders. It wouldn’t be that they are Islamic. But if someone is attending speeches from someone who is promoting the violent overthrow of our government, that’s really an offense that we should be going after — they should be deported or put in prison.

Socialist, He said "deported" which means non-citizens.

I support an Amendment to the Constitution to eliminate the right to practice Islam. This would allow us to do something about the Islamic problem and not worry about constitutional issues.

While I'm sure the readers of this board are not going to be converted to Islam, the religion seems to be quite seductive to the poor and stupid, and eventually this will create a large Islamic Fifth Column within our country.

knock it off bob.

only someone whose brain just does not work and is unable to process the written and spoken word could interpret this as "criminalizing speech". he is talking about treason, which believe it or not is bad. very bad.

"Alex Pareene writes about politics for Salon" that's nice.
