Regardless of who's buying or under what circumstances, you need to buy a place that makes sense after crunching the numbers and is at a discount to what you feel the true value is. That said, I think this is good thing. For a responsible adult child who has never expected to live off his/her parents, has proven not to be spoiled, and has the right things in life going, things like this help a family build a legacy and wealth. Money not used towards rent can be invested and grown, further securing the future of the adult children.
