Discussion about 140 Riverside Drive #3F
The ad suggested this'd be a sponsor sale in unrenovated condition, so I went to see it. Bingo, lots of original features. The kitchen has the chunky solid wood upper cabinets. The highlight, though, is a 1960's Chambers stove, model MR-9-H (see http://www.chamberstoves.net/Models.html). Too big for such a small kitchen, and the new owners could get decent money for it. The baths are in very good original condition, aside from some plaster damage in one of them from a leak upstairs. The F line has the same odd bathroom layout as the K, with the better bathroom with separate stall shower off the hall rather than the master BR. Original steel casements that need scraping and reglazing.

I googled the address and apt number and your posting came up. I have a feeling that stove is going to disappear sometime next week. Also, thanks for the website. It is great and the value keeps going up on Chambers. When I see these models, stainless just takes a back seat.

Looks like the same pattern as #16F: The sponsor tested the market with the unit in original condition, then pulled it, did a basic renovation and relisted.

Not high enough for that. Needs to be at least 5th floor.

cmist: The "F" has western views from the LR, K and front BR. Although direct, the views are not panoramic because the "F" line is in the central, recessed section of the Normandy. The projecting wings of the building cut off the views to the northwest and, especially, the southwest. In #3F, you have the additional limitation of a low floor; that makes the views seasonal, through the tall locust trees on the other side of RSD.

The stove has a one-piece stainless-steel top. I should've made an offer on it, though no clue what to due with all those burners and griddle and thermo-well thingie.

Pretty green view of trees, but I didn't really notice from futzing with the window hardware.

I'm not a huge fan of the set-back apartment lines at 140 RSD. Even on higher floors, where you have a direct view of the river, it always feels oddly removed because your view is buffeted on both sides by the building jutting out. The result is strangely claustrophobic and the long, narrow rooms don't help matters.

If I were to consider either of the current F units it would be 16, hands-down (which, by the way, has lingered for several years now on the market. Makes me wonder why Orsid doesn't just pull it off and re-rent it for a while).
