Discussion about
Hey all, hopefully somebody could help us. My fiance and I are doing an engagement photoshoot this Friday and we want to stay in the Tribeca area. We are looking for backdrops that give the feel of the neighborhood, interesting corners, cobblestones, colored doors, etc. If anyone can provide interesting suggestions, I am all ears!! Thanks!

If you live in the neighborhood it's surprising that you don't know suitable spots . And if you don't live there, why would you want your photos there?

I never understand why people are so unhelpful on here. Harrison is a great street with the brick buildings and overhangs and there's a little alleyway where I've seen photo shoots before. Vestry is a good street for the cobblestones but you might have problems with traffic coming off of the West Side Highway. In terms of backdrop pictures on the Tribeca Cinemas (Film Festival theatre) corner could be cute..If they let you pictures at the bar in Odeon could be good.

"want to stay" doesn't necessarily mean they live there.

good luck finding a block without construction.

My wife and I did our engagement photo shoot in Tribeca - where I have been living for a while - though it was our photographers suggestion...

Depending on what you are looking for, you can go to some of the alley ways like Staple Street or north of Beach St towards the upper left hand corner of Tribeca where it is a bit quieter. You can also walk a block or two over to the Hudson River Greenway (West Side Highway) and take some shots there.

Congrats and good luck.

We live in the financial district but we like the neighborhood and the scenery it provides. we dont live there because its more expensive than where we live and less convenient for us. I appreciate any additional help...

since you're in financial district, don't you think that going to the water would make some great pics? plenty of nice places in BPC.

go to Jay street - off that street is a very unique bridge that connects two buildings. Makes for great photos.

Ignore Wbuttocks, he's still pretending he goes to Brooklyn to visit his girlfriend. Wait, Brooklyn or Canada, where is she again?

Good. Did you see that the Dow "pierced" 12,200 and now we can see how well stevejhx' predictions work out.

To clarify, when you say balls, are we talking about what Wbottom and apt23 don't have, or are you talking about basketballs etc.?

he was nautered today. he is less of a man now than when he woke up this morning. the pills are supposed to make him sleep but he wont sleep he just roams all high knocking everything down. he's a big dog. and he has to wear that plastic wraparound thing which makes it even worse.

I think there might be a support group for him, but the downside is it will mean you have to talk to columbiacounty to get the details.

So the question is lucille, do you love your dog more than you hate columbiacounty? Well do you, punk?

Lucille, I have a friend who had the vet give the dog "neuticals" (that's what my friend calls them) after she had her weimeraners neutered. Though she's not sure if that was to help her dogs feel better or to make her feel better. The lengths people will go to for their pets :)

i don't hate columbiacounty. in fact if her's going through something similar, he is welcome to come out to nj and sit ont he couch with my dog. i can give him some drugs and the 2 ball-less dogs can bond maybe he'll feel better about the world.

That sounds very nice of you lucille. Columbiacounty, are you willing to bury the hatchet with lucille and sit on her couch with her dog and compare stories with him?

ph41, thank you very much but i just looked it up and they lost me at the concern about the pet's self esteem. you neuter them to curb their 'self esteem'. people are retarded.

seriously, if you just put the pet in the bathroom that has a window in the shower, that'll destroy any semblance of self esteem.

And here I thought it was to help them maintain their "self esteem". You know, like feeling they still have them- obviously I don't have pets.

well, i don't know what the purpose of the fake balls is other than making easy money from silly people, but you neuter a male dog to curb the testosterone, so they are less agressive, they don't "mark" everything everywhere all the time, they don't hump, they are just calmer. also, they obviously can't have puppies.

jakedavid: That's a good call.

drums: Take your bride-to-be and your YAMAHA and set it up in the park. You may make a few bucks playing it and that will help pay the photog.

lucille: We had our dog fixed last spring.
My b.f. was out of town, he didn't want to know from it.

Our dog still runs around the property the same way; 3 times clockwise and a quick change-up then 3 more times counter-clockwise.

The b.f. built him a private sand-pit in the back, where the dog is doing the Big Dig.
