Discussion about
Does anyone on this site have any experience with buying a home from a HPD / HUD sponsored program? I would very much appreciate your thoughts... I'm in contract with a third-party developer who is selling a home through one of these programs. I have been waiting for quite a long time for their review and approval. If you have had experiences, please share... Thanks a lot.

Thanks.

Pawn - I am in the same situation... I get no response from the seller's lawyer and am close to running out on my lease - nearly ready to toss it in and blow up the contract... Hopefully we are not trying to get the same house - ha! Have you contacted HPD directly?

They often delay for a long time and while the product is attractive at first I say buyer beware. Shoddy construction leads to out of pocket repair costs that far exceed the savings you get up front. Just because the city is sponsoring the project that does not mean they oversee the construction process.EastNY09 - Glad things are working out for you, but keep track of any issues as they arise.
