"Stalled construction projects litter the city" "List shrinking slowly as developers struggle to restart work." "Since peaking at 710 in November, the number of stalled sites has been declining steadily, a trend that is expected to continue. “There was a period when no one was doing anything, and things were bleak,” said Robert LiMandri, commissioner of the Department of Buildings. About 550 sites have restarted in the two years the list has existed, he said, adding that “there are projects that are shaking out.” " http://www.crainsnewyork.com/article/20110731/REAL_ESTATE/307319977
there are buyers all over the place looking for stalled projects.
In the admittedly small area that I see day-to-day (UES and Midtown East), it seems that most of the stalled sites are moving forward again. Examples:
SE corner of 79th & Third
Toll Brothers site at 65th & Lex
NW corner of 56th and Park (Drake Hotel site with frontage through to 57th)
NE corner of 57th and Third
NW corner of 55th or 56th (?) and Lex (demolition of old building under way - not certain that this leads immediately to new construction)
I don't know if all of these are residential, but at the least most of them are. What are others seeing in their areas?
sideline, that's what I've been seeing in Williamsburg for a while now. Very few new projects, but lots of the stalled sites have picked back up in some form. A couple have even been completed (144 North 8th, 142 North 6th, etc.). Even the loooong-stalled site on the corner of North 6th and Wythe has started up.
