Discussion about
They have all the finishes I want and have had mixed experience with contractors over the years. Figured this way at least you have a company behind them. Looking to do a moderate kitchen renovation. Thanks

I am not so sure if you have Home Depot behind their contractors. I believe, unless they changed something, that they just use outside contractors. You might get a good one or perhaps not. I also heard that they were very expensive but i can be wrong on that too.

Home Depot does not have their own contractors. They hire out. Only Sears has their own contractors.

Thanks I figured they hired out but you would at least have some recourse with a big company. Anyone have recs for a good guy?

I tried that route a couple of years ago - forget it. They farm the stuff out and they are expensive. Get your own contractor.

HD does not "stand behind" the contractors they send out. I buy appliances at HD and many other items, but wouldn't use one of their contractors because I've never heard a good story.

Our experience with Sears windows 5 years ago was the same -- Sears wouldn't fix them, the contractor wouldn't fix them, the window company wouldn't fix them only 6 months after installation. It was a Sears installation ordered directly from Sears Home Improvement. I've never used Sears again for anything.
