They've never looked into the history of how "enemy alien" holdings are treated in the West.

I've been reading "The Hare with Amber Eyes", and the vast foreign holdings of a banking scion were confiscated after the 1st World War because he had Austrian citizenship. Ah, and the coda? The bulk of his remaining (Austrian) assets were lost to Aryanization.
