How so? A lot of people in Manhattan are stating the storm was overhyped, meanwhile millions of people were without power for days and had/have flooded homes on the East Coast and in inland areas. In Queens alone over 300 trees are down. Just because some people were relatively dry does not mean this was a storm to take lightly. Hurricane/Tropical Storm Irene was the size of Europe. As upstate New York, Vermont, New Jersey, and other locales know, it's not just the wind, it's also the deluge of rain that can injure and kill. It hit New York City during high tide--we were relatively lucky.

The comments dismissing Hurricane/Tropical Storm Irene remind me of a friend's relative who informed me that people should be over 9/11. It's so easy to have a forensic analysis when you have not been affected. I'm sure the people who lost family members, pets (I saw a dead dog floating in the Hudson) and property think Irene was a serious weather event.

Maybe if they gave it a more masculine name, like Hurricane Irving, it would have gotten more respect.

@FreebirdNYC
Not referring to the article. "How so?" refers to the "Funny" comment of the OP. Reading comprehension? End of.
