Discussion about
This listing says that dogs and cats are officially allowed in the buidling, but there are a lot of dogs and cats in the building anyway. http://brooklynhearth.com/listing.php?id=899 What does this mean? How could a pet owner get past the co-op board if the building as a no pets policy? Are you supposed to lie to the board? What happens when you have to take Fido out for a walk? curious if anyone has run into this before.

Ask for a copy of the latest co-op building rules. Could be a new rule, and all those pets are grandfathered in.

Many coops have a no dog policy in case there is a "problem dog". So they allow dogs but keep the policy as insurance.

Bernie123, how do they handle it when someone buys an apartment? Do they interview your dog?

you typically don't say anything at the board interview. once you move in, if the pet is not a problem, you're fine. if the pet is a problem, they start with fines that keep increasing, then take you to court. you will most likely win, but it will cost you in terms of $$$ and stress.

Thanks ab_11218! I don't know who would want to take that risk.
