Discussion about
Has it ever been more apparant that a useless global governing body such as the United Nations be relocated to like ....Governor's Island? In addition to the obvious traffic and logistic relief it would be exponetially secure/securable. Our lovely mayor who has a penchant for treating the world like children, can you you not see the logic in this and make it one of your pet projects? Or does it interfere with whatever secret base we have there....CIA? Men in Black? Jack Bauer and the CTU?

"Where will they eat?"

They can brown bag their lunches like real New Yorkers.

This comment is not based in reality or history. Stop whining. They own the land -- it is not part of the US territory. A deal was cut. Live with it and move on.

Manhattan raises big bucks from tourism and while there is an inconvenience -- it is a process and a revenue base. It is part of what makes this city a center of tourism. How much do you contribute to the city's revenue base? My guess is not as much as the UN.

Fox what on earth are you talking about?

THe building and site is in shambles and built to 50 year old specs. They want new facilites.
Governor's Island is over 150 acres! And it's still in NY. How many NY jobs would be created to turn Governor's Island into an international facility, with a tunnel maybe or a bridge. Really how does it affect slob diplomats from billing their country for food deliveries or leaving the island to "play" and to live.
What no room for for state of the art dining on 150 acres??
With security exponetially enhanced in and out of the island, instead of destroying midtown manhattan's productivity.

How much does UN business contribute to your revenue base seems just as an appropriate question.

Governor's Island
That's a great idea!
That's genius!
perfect place, room to grow, great safety, keeps those scofflaw losers off our streets.
We could build a real show place.
Better, lets make it "international land" and let the UN pay for everything.
The current site could become a university and a park.
Genius!
