Heads up to interested parties. Owner has now rented out this space twice and ripped off both tenants. The first tenants are suing to get their deposit and rent back, it was initially rented as a commercial space. Check property records then check owners last name in Manhattan Supreme Court/Civil as defendant. Recently, just the upstairs apartment was rented. The owner took $3000 from a couple then when they showed up to move in he refused them entry claiming they didn't have renters insurance and refused to refund the money. Beware.
