Gas or electric dryer?

We bought a prewar coop apartment with a combination washer/dryer, which is in the kitchen. I want to replace it with modern stackable separates. The space is adequate. However, this combo unit runs on standard 120VAC electricity. So, I have two choices: 1. We bought a prewar coop apartment with a combination washer/dryer, which is in the kitchen. I want to replace it with modern stackable separates. The space is adequate. However, this combo unit runs on standard 120VAC electricity. So, I have two choices: 1. Get a gas dryer, which means hiring a plumber to run a new gas line from (I assume) near the cooktop, which is just across a few feet of tiled floor from the washer/dryer. Also there is already a space along the ceiling where an exhaust pipe goes from the range hood across to near the washer/dryer so that the two external vents (range hood and dryer) are next to each other. 2. Get an electric dryer, which means hiring an electrician to put in a new 220VAC/30amp circuit. The breaker box is maybe 25 feet from the kitchen. My question is: how do these options compare in terms of cost, time, and hassle (permits etc.)? All things being equal, I'd prefer gas because of the lower operating cost and better "green" factor.
