Hi, we are looking into moving to the city from CT. We have 2 young kids, 6 and 2. I and my husband grew up in a city and miss city life , so decided to go live in NYC for a few years. My husband got a job in the financial district. Here are the things we think we would want (it's been a few years since we lived in the city and 2 kids since.So we we are not entirely sure we know what we want):
1) Best public schools(coming from CT, we are pretty uncomfortable with the idea of paying for a private school)
2) Safety
3) Condo, for easy bail out incase we change our minds about living in NYC in a year
4) City look and feel on the streets - some shops and restaurants/takeouts at walkable distance
5) Affordability
Is financial district a good choice? I hear a lot about upper west and east for family living? Which one will be a better fit for us?
