An Incredible Photo Tour Of America's Wealthiest Zip Code Forget East Hampton's 11937 and Beverly Hills' 90210--the most prestigious zip code in America is officially 07620. It belongs to Alpine, New Jersey, an enclave of around 2,400 that counts some of business and pop culture's best known names among its residents. The borough, less than nine miles from Manhattan, recently topped Forbes' list of the most expensive zip codes in America. Most people value Alpine for its privacy. Unlike other expensive zip codes where high taxes pay for a bevvy of municipal services, Alpine has a relatively low tax rate, thanks in part to the fact that it doesn't have a high school or mail delivery. In fact, it has barely any commerce at all--the only restaurant is Kiku, a hibachi house on the outskirts of town. The median home price in Alpine is $4.55 million, while the most expensive home on the market, the historic stone mansion on the Frick estate, is listed at an eye-popping $53 million. 9 square miles and less than 2000 residents. What's the point here?
By the way, it's very nice. It's only flaw is that's in NJ and not NY.
why is NY so special over NJ?
By the way..
Biking from NY pas over the GW past Alpine toward Piermont NY, Nyack or Bear Mountain is one of New York City's best escape routes. A great amenity for those looking to relax and destress.
I like how the photo tour says "Wesley Snipes reportedly lives in the modern white mansion behind Devil's Tower."
No, Wesley Snipes currently lives in a federal prison cell and his nice Alpine mansion will soon become proeprty of Bergen County for unpaid property taxes.

All that money, no sidewalks, no mail delivery.
Who needs sidewalks when there is nothing to walk to? Where are you going to walk to? Starbucks?
True story: Several years ago I was driving in Alpine on the main street and wanted to make a U turn. So I saw this large townhouse complex and drive down the driveway to make a U turn. Guess what? it was not a townhouse complex. It was a mansion. The guy left his gates open and I literally drive halfway down his driveway. Nobody said anything, so he probably was not home. Maybe he was at one of his 6 other mansions.
"no sidewalks" no kidding!!!
Riversider. The accent from the Jersey Shore group is not Jersey. New Yorkers should be a bit humble when it comes to accents.
Plenty of northern NJ towns lack sidewalks. And when there is a sidewalk, there is generally just a sidewalk on one side of the street.
These stories on wealthy zip codes are idiotic. Statistics tell you what you want them to tell you. It is all in the assumptions for the inputs, and interpretations of the output. The tiny size of Alpine makes it very rich by some measures, but the shear number of super rich on Manhattan's UES makes it richer than anywhere by a different measure.
