T-Bills. The risk of losing it is too high.
If you wanted to play two extemes small amount gold and large amount t-bills betting on tail risk of curency depreciation vs huge risk off deflaton going to dollar.

West34: Low risk. When I'm 64. (10-11 years from now.)

marco: I was thinking Brooklyn re. The prices are so nice these days. Can buy a nice, large one bedroom
co-op. Low maint. Like in Bay Ridge where they allow renting it out after two years. 300k-325k buys a lot there. And they don't care if my friend from Italy lives there. I'm going to pay cash.
Fully renoed.
For 250k-275-ish, in need of reno (or do-over reno).
I can get Primer to reno for me. (I wouldn't even consider anyone else for reno.)

Riversider: Sounds good to me.

How old? What % of portfolio is it?

The old rule of thumb is 100-your age in stocks... but there was a book recently about making sure you don't correlate to your job - as in if you work on wall street, make that number lower.

somewhereelse: I'm semi-retiring. In Italy. I'm going to work as little as possible and mostly do charity concert benefits (for gratis).
Still have some money in stocks with Sanford Bernstein.
But I'm not up for more risk.
If I had your know-how, I'd be doing it for myself ;).

Me?! Working on Wall Street?! LOL!

Have over 100k in bank accounts, should I keep more in cash at different bank accounts? Want to keep around 350k in cash for apt. purchase in Brooklyn. (I think prices will drop after the new year and more inventory will be available in March/April.) Found a nice apartment to rent until I buy.
Going to get more bonds and treasury.
Santa brings the 745k first week of Jan.

I will miss hanging out with Jackie Mason at La Baguette on Lex. when I'm home in town.
Weekdays around 5pm-ish.

Jerry Stiller came in last week.

They hang out at the Friars Club around the corner on E.55th St. Then they hit La Baguette.

Oy, it's a laugh riot!

They needed the lesson.

They won't be giving owners problems anymore.

ph41: The basics:
The judge ruled that the condo board of managers acted "outside of the scope of their authority"
by taking legal action against me and their interpretation of the bylaws was "implausible" and ordered them not to manage the condo in ways that are "unlawful".

The injunction is the gift from me to the other unit owners, that keeps on giving.

Just remember to diversify the investments whatever you do.
Where in Italy will you be?
I was thinking that it might be a good investment to buy a place in Italy & rent it out when you're not there, but, in view of Italy's financial problems, I wouldn't do that.

Not all people in Columbia County are losers. A few days ago I found Chapter 11 in the History of Columbia County, New York, about the DISTINGUISHED MEN OF COLUMBIA COUNTY.

Now, perhaps you noticed that I asked Columbia what page he was on, and he never answered, but nevertheless, there are some distinguished men up in Columbia County.

Truth -- So your definition of "trolling" is any comment you don't like. If you are going to over-share with such details about your finances and your lawsuit, you are inviting comments. (And you clearly don't understand what trolling is if you are pointing to my comment, but Huntersburg can explain trolling to you because that is his sole function.) You can't dictate silence, nor can your erudite friend. Also, "midtowneryeastinfection"? Lame name-calling.
