Discussion about
Hi Anyone know of any good tub people...want to get my tub reglazed....I have a jacuzzi tub and i believe its plastic......called one guy and he said he could either clean and sand it OR reglaze....clean and sand for 300 and reglaze for 450.....does that sound reasonable? Also, can this all be done if my tub is indeed plastic?
no one?
Reglazing can be a mess--it will begin to peel after a while and you'll have to keep getting it redone. Don't know whether it's a good idea to try reglazing plastic--that sounds a bit ominous to me.
really...so its not worth it?
Well, hopefully others will chime in as well but I would be a bit wary of doing it. We reglazed a prewar porcelain tub before renting out the apartment and thankfully it seems to have withstood the three years of wear and tear pretty well (it was only being used by one person). But my contractor did warn me that eventually the glaze will wear, and if one is not careful it could wear quickly. So--no scratchy cleaning implements or sandy scrubbing products.
Perhaps primer will weigh in on this.
We had it done for about $300 - thought it was really good. For a jacuzzi tub, that sounds about right. You can't use it for 24 - 48 hours I think. I recommend the treatment. We used someone we found and yelp or Angies List
BTDT - waste of money. Unless it's a special tub that you can't buy.
Jackson Hole,
Reglazing has its pros and cons
1. Simple clean project
2. Less expensive then buying a new one plus the labor that goes along with it
1. Will only last 3-5 years.
So it really depends on your needs, if you are planning to renovate your bathroom in 3-5 years then you should do it. If you want to regale every couple of years it may not be worth it
Usually reglazing cost $300-$500
I do have a very good guy. Email me at www.primerenovations@mac.com
Agree with Primer that it doesn't last that long and we have reglazed for the second time one tub that we had reglazed four years ago. But at $300, it seemed a lot cheaper than replacing the whole bath.
thanks all....Primer05....the email address you gave me bounced back...please advise. thanks
Sorry

So only 1 company out of the 3 i interviewed said they could reglaze eventhough its a plastic tub...should i trust them?
Jackson: Trust Primer's guy.
spqsydney, do you mind to share his contact info?
Jackson,
I did not know your tub is "plastic"
I have a great guy that works with different acrylic tubs which should be able to help.
