Discussion about
Has anyone done this before? I live in an apartment where the tenats above me are quite loud. Most of the sound is impact (footsteps, stuff dropping) but I do hear some audible noises. Ive read a lot on this topic and talked to vendors who use this non-expanding spray foam and it seems it helps quite a bit with the audible sounds, not so much with impact but it may a bit. Curious if anyone has used this in the past or other types of insulation, perhaps cellulose? Any luck? Thanks

Wouldn't you still need to put a layer of ceiling to hide or cover the spraying foam? I thought the spongy type of insulation blocks noise better?

No, they retrofit it...they drill a few holes in the ceiling, stick a hose in there and spray

As much as I like Prince lumber I do not believe they are the ones to ask. You need to talk to several sound proofing companies. From what I do know (I am no expert on this) nobody will say that it will 100% work. It might reduce the news anywhere from 60-80%.

I have spoken to a few soundproofing companies, but of course they will say it will work...was just curious if anyone has had any success with this. I guess it makes sense that it could work since it will fill every void in the ceiling.

I think prince lumber has some knowledgeable people and 1 or 2 manufacturers suggested I talk to them. They should be able to give you the pros/cons of each
