Discussion about
Would anyone have an estimate on what a new Mcquay PTAC unit would cost? I am looking at a condo that has 8 year old Mcquay's which covers are a bit dinged up. Any recommendations on replacement of units or just replacement of the covers? They are used for cooling and heating. What is the normal lifespan of these?

I would expect considerably longer life than 8 years. You could replace the metal housing or cover with custom covers as an alternative.

I need to replace a compressor in a 5 year old McQuay PTAC. All of the AC repair companies I've contacted so far are requesting $1,000 plus to swap out the compressor since McQuay is refusing to honor the warranty for the compressor. This whole Mcquay PTAC repair thing seems like robbery, especially considering the technology in these units is one step above a window air conditioner. Seems cheaper to buy a new unit than repair McQuay trash. Anyone know of a good/quiet alternative brand that would fit a 42inch McQuay sleave, and would provide hydronic heat? Or in the alternative, a reliable, and reasonably priced McQuay repair person servicing the downtown Brooklyn area?

I hear GE Zoneline are good and quiet. I, however, have not had the opportunity to experience the GE personally.
