Discussion about
We're thinking of doing some work to our pre-war apt. The floors need to be sanded and re-polished. In addition, has anyone had base board work done? The base boards in the apt look as if they've been painted over so many times over the years that the definition is gone. Not sure how big of a job it is. Does anyone know for a room that is 20x18, how much floors and base boards would cost? Can someone recommend a contractor? Thanks.

ask your super they usually do this sort of thing. Also, I'd go to every coop/building on the block and ask the supers what they'd charge. be real careful with sanding/repolishing as some guys way overcharge. I just did a room of that size, including ripping out a wall, exposing brick, sanding/polyurethaning the floors, painting and kitchen demo with my super for $2750 all in. that I can tell you is way cheap.

I recommend a guy name Marc from Altanis Contracting they are fast - and very good but one guy is a slob I'd be careful with him - forgot his name but they are so much less $$ than anyone else and the work is solid.
917-416-9217 - Marc is teh owner and he is terrific!
