Bathroom, Kitchen, and dryer Ventilation

Discussion about
How much does it cost to add new bathroom, kitchen, and dryer ventilation in a brownstone? What are the important variables to consider? Are these these separate vent systems/lines? Can any of them be combined? Can all three be combined? How big are they? Can they fit between the floor beams or does some significant structural work have to be done on the building? Code issues? Any recommendations of HVAC contractors?

You're going to have a large variation in cost depending on where your apartment is within the building and how flexible your building's board will be. I vented an existing bathroom and a new dryer through the roof for minimal cost, but I'm on the top floor. The two lines meet and go up through one vent pipe. They fit within the existing beams and did not require soffits.

My building was very flexible because our existing bathroom had no source of ventilation, which is against code. We agreed to fix the problem; they agreed to let us pierce a section of the roof that we don't own.

I think bathroom ventilation fans are essential and add years to a bathroom life.

I own the building so there isn't an issue about getting board approval. This would be a line that runs up the building connecting 5 bathroom and 5 kitchens. So, lad, I am basically doing what you did just through 5 floors...what was your cost?

oh, and lad, did you use an architect / need any permits? Or did you just do the project under the radar?

Location, location, location. Sounds like you own the whole building? Are you doing a gut reno? Where is the plumbing stack? Do you mind a bump-out/soffit along the walls? You can definitely go between joists, but then you are forcing the floor above you to have a wall/column where one may not have existed before.
