Do not rent apartment 3S. You will be directly over the sound system of the restaurant below. The restaurant turns into a club on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, when you can clearly hear the music and the crowd noises. We were not told about the sound system before we moved in. Also, be aware that the owner plans to construct a new building right next to the Helena and you will be living next to a construction site for years (beginning 2012).

Leasing agent lied about what was going up next door when we moved in (told us a school - turns out they OWN the space next door and knew they were putting in apartments). You will lose ALL westward views.

Prepare to be harassed at least once every couple weeks by vendors the building lets in (likely for a fee) to pitch you on their products.

Lots of other little annoying issues. Besides the leasing office though, the staff is phenomenal.

I've lived there for almost 7 years, so I want to comment on the comments already noted.

The restaurant downstairs is now closed and there will be a gourmet-type grocery store opening in the Spring of 2017.

The building next door is now done (it was originally supposed to be a school). It is indeed an apartment building that, in its design has minimal impact on most of the higher floor, west-facing apartments.

Yes, we get the occasional flyer under the door for a restaurant, but harrassed? No.

The current issue is the behemoth of a building going up across 57th Street, that will obstruct just about everyone's south-facing apartment views. It's New York. It happens. I will probably move, unfortunately, as I generally really like The Helena.

Check out across the street the 24/7 construction they failed to mention would happen 2 months after I signed lease. No good sleep for 10 mo, ready to murder these scammers.
