Discussion about
Can anyone recommend a storage place outside NY for six beloved pieces of furniture for a year or two? Upstate NY would be great, but anywhere outside the city (i.e. cheaper) and reliable would work. Thanks.

Boss: I used Oz for my move and they are storing some furniture, clothing, artwork and other beloved items at their N.J. storage facility.

You may find cheaper but I feel that it's in good storage hands.

just do not use storage provided by a mover. I found it less expensive to use pay movers to wrap my belongings very well, and then deliver them to a separate storage unit.

and lets not get into the storage facilities themselves. buy your own lock beforehand - make sure you know which kind the units use, and try to get a pricing commitment for the entire length of your stay. get climate control. the further away from the city, the cheaper it will be. Also, do not buy insurance from them. your homeowners or renters policy should cover it, just ask your insurance company or agent to make sure. save $.

Thanks to both of you -- pricing commitment, my own lock, climate control: yes.

I think I have the movers set (the storage place I'm using and currently disliking, near Boston, can deliver my things) so I really just need a good storage facility.
