Discussion about
I'm thinking we can do without and join the local gym or Y. My wife thinks it would be better to find a building with it especially for the winter, and No Excuses! I haven't pegged a rule of thumbfor extra maintenance costs.
My understanding is a gym adds value to an apt. A pool I'm not so sure.
Amongst the first places a realtor or an owner shows off is the gym (including pool). They add value.
and the building's "party room", because the apartments are too small to have parties IN them
Ah yes, the Party Room, that was the first sign something was wrong at Citigroup.
Its not about adding value, which to us in a position of a buyer means adding purchase price . That's something I wasn't thinking of though, I was thinking of monthly maintenance costs. So it could be a double expense.
Some buildings charge separately for the pool and gym, it's not always tied in with the maintenance.
For what its worth, when i had a gym in my bldg, which was already paid for in the monthly maintenance, i never ever went. Now that my gym's around the corner, i go all the time. Something about it being TOO close and TOO easy makes it easier to say "i'll just go tomorrow..."
Nothing to do with home value, but a thought.
