I have always used Macy's and they were really reliable.

Go to this website. Fantastic personalized service from Ed Barsamian at reasonable cost.

I've had good results with ABC Carpet and Home. They pick up, clean, and repair if necessary.

I also like Rug Renovating www.rugrenovating.com. You can set it all up online.

Have used bloomingdales rug cleaning service which is also the same as the macy's one which is also really i think just long island carpet cleaners (its really in bklyn) http://licarpetcleaners.com/

seemed to do a good job. seeing this post reminded me its been a year so just called them to do it again. Price for 3 oriental rugs (2.5x8, 4x6, 6x9) was around $350. will take 2 weeks tho.

I just used Rose's carpet on 89th and Amsterdam to clean a fairly large oriental rug. They charged me $250 for the job. Have yet to pick it up after cleaning, so cannot comment on quality yet, but the friends that referred me to the place vouched that they do a good job.

Any more recent experiences? Looking to have a 5 x 8 rug professionally cleaned before moving.

We just had out cleaned by ABC which is where we bought it. They did a great job. Very efficient service. Not particularly fast - it was gone for two weeks.

I used Costikyan [718 726-1090] to clean 15+ rugs a year ago as part of my move.

Excellent service, and the per square foot cost isn't bad, especially considering the cost includes pick up & delivery. I had them pick up from the old place, and deliver to the new place, so it was one less thing to pay the movers for.

So far the quotes for a 6 X 9 rug have been $400+ and that does not include pickup and delivery! I think Ill take it to our local cleaners.

It would be interesting to know who was quoting what price, and what services that included (pickup/delivery/repair, etc.) And what rug size, exactly: earlier you said a 5x8, now it's 6x9. I'd never give a quote on a growing rug, as how would I know what size it would be by the time I picked it up?
