Discussion about
I am re-doing my bathroom which is currently tiled throughout, to only have tile in the shower/tub area leaving the other walls just painted. But I'm not sure how to handle base molding, which is currently a non-issue with all the tiling. Is it better / more often seen to have normal baseboard molding painted a nice glossy white, or to use a couple inches of the floor tile? Thanks.
i've seen mostly the few inches of tile. most moldings are wood and would have issues with constant exposure to high humidity.
I redid a bathroom in the way you're doing it (tub surround tile only -- I used bright white 6x6" plain). I used black 2"x6" "flat cap" to trim the vertical edge (which I extended out a bit from the tubline, to catch splashes). Then I ran the same flat cap around the perimeter of the room, over the floor tiles (1x1" black and white checkerboard, black grout).
I would definitely suggest a tile baseboard, it will hold up much better than wood and look better. Wood baseboard on a tile floor just looks wrong to me.

Agree with BuiltINstudio. It is a much cleaner look. I wouldn't just install any tiles as the edges might not look finished.
I like having the speciality base moulding tiles, if doing ceramic. I have some wood moulding in kids' bath. Meant to change it out with the matching ceramic base moulding tiles, but never got around to it. Great condition after 6 years. I keep door open all the time when not in use, and there's good ventilation.
