building at 400 East 59th Street

In general, the building is not in a great location. 59th & 1st is a direct enterance to the 59th street bridge with lots of traffic and not a very attractive block. Also the water tunnel project has been located on the opposite corner for the past several years and will continue for several more.

Bridge views are best from afar or from high above. The building is only 17 stories, your bridge views are up close and personal, not very attractive with trucks and cars rumbling past your windows.

Being a pre-war building, the room dimensions aren't all that large, and you have all of the pluses and minuses of an 80 year old building.

The maintenance seems to be in line with other similar buildings, considering it includes electricity and basic cable.

The neighborhood, particularly going South of the building, is very convenient to everything midtown has to offer and it's a quick bus or taxi to the upper eastside.

The 2 stores in the building were vacant for years, but recently an Italian restaurant opened and another restaurant is coming soon.
