Pre-war Condo vs. Single Family Town house

Hello, hoping for some sound advise. Have identified two lead options. 3bd condo at 1212 Fifth Ave vs. a historic East End Town across from Carl Shurz Park. The break-down: * Purchase price points are similar * Pre-war condo is, well pre-war, beautifully done and overlooks Central Park. Concern - community housing on Mad & Park, and $380 higher carrying costs per month. * Town house is charming, on beautiful street, over looks Carl Shurz Park. Concern- will need total renovation and some conerns re. value if waste transfer stations happens. Planning to raise a family and stay put for 10 years or so, so LT vision with both. And feedback on areas, schools, resale, family living, etc would definitely help.
