Average building, decent location, apartments a bit undersized. Fairly typical LIC-style structure.

I think Apartment 63 would be an acceptable pied-à-terre. Just steer clear of the coven on the fourth floor. And don't get your hopes up about the whole time travel thing.

The Dakota is old ... why would you want to buy there when you could live in a brand-new condo in Long Island City instead?

Does the Dakota have windows in the shower? Can you install a new bathtub?

@hburg - depends on your religion, race &/or ethnicity, @ the dkta, u can install windows & bathtubs anywhere in the unit. doesn't have to be the bathroom.

"No landmark status?"

... obviously not, or they wouldn't have been allowed to remove the beautiful patina that made it look old-world. The "cleaned" version looks like Europeland at Epcot Center.

You do know that there is a well documented Satanic cult that resides in this building.
Satanic powers so great that they actually broke up the Beatles. (also well documented)
Apparently those Satanic powers were insufficient to keep out Blacks.

I had an old thread in mind but, now that you mention it...
That old black magic has me in it's spell
That old black magic that you weave so well
Those icy fingers up and down my spine
The same old witchcraft when your eyes meet mine

so it would seem that alanhart and aboutready are the same person...

That that would be a force to reckon with.

I'd be very, VERY careful about living there.

Past residents have reported strange dreams, featuring Maurice Evans yelling "TYPHOON! TYPHOON! IT KILLED 55 PEOPLE IN LONDON!!!" while struggling to stand up in a high wind, balancing a windsock & sextant. Scary!

Well, a typhoon would make it (an extremely) "wet" dream! (A wet dream...about Maurice Evans?!? Now I'm feeling a little queasy.) ACCHH!!! At least he wasn't in his Planet of the Apes costume!!!

Which one is correct? Does it have 95 units or 93 units?
