HVAC Insulation

Discussion about
During my recent renovation I had an HVAC installed for both heating and cooling. I noticed that the ducts are not insulated. Does anyone know if this is important to do?

They might be internally insulated -- double-check that.

It's generally a good idea to insulate; it may be required by energy code for new installations. In the cooling season it can prevent condensation on the exterior of a cold uninsulated duct (water being a worse enemy of buildings than energy loss). There are a few instances where uninsulated is not a big deal, e.g. when the energy loss through the duct wall will heat or cool the same space that the distributed air would have anyway.
