My wife is French and her job ended early in NYC. She called the Rental office (Rose Associates 55th & 9th LLC) to get details on breaking the lease. She was told we could not break the lease, our only option is to sublease the apartment for the remainder of the lease. So we contacted a realtor for the sublease, as we were moving April 26th. When we contacted the rental office to let them know the realtor would be showing the unit, they said, "We can do a lease break for a fee." (Total Different story!) This lady told us, we had to give a 60 day notice and pay a 45 day fee. But she would talk to the mgr about my wife's previous call! She then refused to speak to me and insisted on speaking only to my wife, She used my wife's limited English to confuse her. and sent us a paper to sign and return with a certified check for the 45 day fee which was $5100. My wife however, had already mailed them a check for May's rent of $3425. We just realized today we had double payed the May rent with the penalty and by making the rent payment for May 1st. We called and they refused to reimburse the $3400 and said my wife understood that, which she did not! The lady also refused to deal with me and continued to double talk my wife! NOT a good way to treat a customer or a foreign guest! We will be taking action against them! BEWARE the Nicole!!! [less]
The Management of the Nicole, Rose Associates 55th & 9th LLC responded to our complaint today. They corrected the problem and resolved it to our satisfaction! Thank you!
