why would anybody pay $3M for sth like that?

They clearly put in some work--by taking down the walls around the maids room and the new kitchen. It makes me wonder how good the renovations are, however, when the bookshelves in the LR don't even attach to the wall. Is this an IKEA special? The other fixtures look equally low-end. Buyer beware!
