We recently had a coop purchase blocked by the board, on price being too low. The seller has retained about 3,000 of our escrow funds. No reason given. Any suggestions for recourse action? Is this legal for them to do? Wild wild New York...

Talk to your lawyer. Does the contract say anything about escrow funds if you don't get approved by the board. Seems to me you should get back your entire deposit.
