renting in upper manhattan w/ young kids

I am looking for advise on renting. We are being led toward Hudson heights or Hamilton heights. Just want a good public school/ quality of life. Any advice on which area is better for small family? Thanks

look for Rent Stab ones!!! there are actually many in Harlem close to Columbia. low lease to lease increases and having the say about whether you stay or move are critical when having kids.
