Discussion about
Moving to a rental building that does not provide AC units. Need to purchase quite a lot of them and have them professionally installed (through window only). One place quoted me $255 per unit installed and $1000 per unit. Can anyone recommend a company to purchase units from and do the installation (not looking for a general store like PC Richard and Son or Home Depot). Building wants a professional who specializes in AC units. Thank you.

Search on Yelp for air conditioner installation ... a guy named Vlad and his Russian employers. More 5-star reviews than I've ever seen for anything on Yelp.

You mean "employees", not "racist".

Elgot Appliances. http://www.elgotkitchens.com/air_conditioning/

Won't be cheap, but should make the building happy.

We went to CoolAir, 718-721-2131, www.coolairnyc.com. They used to be in the E 70's and moved to LICNY. Their prices includes delivery, installation, removal of old a/c, and a 2 year warranty/service. They also construct through the wall a/c spaces with sleeves. They are an approved professional a/c specialist in my building. They're also approved by many a/c manufacturers for service. They also do spring cleaning of the units for an extra fee.

I just bought 2 a/c's from them this spring. I think I paid about $200/$250 over the list price at PC Richard.

Can't the super in your building do that for you for a few bucks?
