Co-op Sublease – Additional Roommate

I know this is probably a more a rental question, but here goes. I rent in a co-op building now and plan to have my fiance move in with me. Can the board prevent her from moving in? Is that basically discrimination due to marital status, is it against the law? If they do not allow her to move in, should I be able to break my lease with landlord with no penalty?
