Discussion about
Any recommendations for reasonably priced custom furniture designers/manufacturers in NY area? I am looking to get living room furniture made. Thanks
Define "reasonably priced".
I consider Crate & Barrell furniture reasonably priced.
Crate and Barrel is "reasonably priced" for mass-produced furniture that's often made from particle board and stapled together.
You will not find those prices for custom-designed and custom-built furniture anywhere in the United States, let alone New York City.
sammy300,
The old standard in NYC seems to be Gothic Cabinet Craft (http://gothiccabinetcraft.com). They use solid wood, and make things to order (construction and finish). However they tend to be "no frills" in terms of design, and pretty basic, IMO. For something more "mod" and higher-end, I like Maurice Villency for designer furniture, but I've never had something built-to-order from them.

Sammy: just google: custom furniture greenpoint
There are a bunch of places that do nice work. You'll see a few along the water, one of which does its stuff over in Asia and is quite nice.
But really depends on what you are looking for. Maybe you should let people know what you have in mind and you'll get better recommendations.

Thanks Ottawa & Sonya! I will check out your suggestions but I am looking for very basic couch, but with very specific dimensions for seat height & overall width.
@Fieldschester: I need custom living room furniture, not a custom fake bike. Thanks anyway...

You're welcome, sammy!
Maybe try calling places like west elm or Bo concept. Do they have eq3 in us?

There used to be a good one in Soho on broome and @ greene or wooster.
But they are long gone.
Greenpoint is an excellent suggestion.
But I'd exhaust internet searches with your dimensions first.
I was close to customizing as I wanted a fairly long couch with a challenging small elevator and stairwell.
So I needed one that was split in 2 but looked like 1 when assembled and that I liked.
I eventually found this one that I love.
