In my view, NWT is the most knowledgeable person on the Streeteasy discussion board.

My personal view is that each person (of those who are actually valuable contributors) has their own strengths. I don't think there is any one person who knows the "most" or is best at one "thing." Some know more about renovations and construction, some know more about the intricacies of negotiation, some are more geared towards finance and markets, etc., etc. The great thing about this community is that, together, with all these different people, a wealth of information is available. Of course, you have to ignore the trolls, discussion-killers, sleaze-bags, and trouble-makers (but we all know who they are, and newcomers quickly realize). It's really not TOO hard to separate the useful information from the noise.

Just my take,
:)

There are so many people on here that offer great knowledge and I concur with others have said...kylewest, fieldchester, nwt, etc...you can tell pretty quickly who actually is well versed in the different subject and areas and others just playfully causing trouble.

He has never actually set foot in NYC.
This is why he can be objective.

In addition to NWT, I appreciate Jazzman and Riversider's commentary.

We should have a corresponding thread for the worst posters on Streeteasy. Aboutready, Columbia County, and Squid top my list.

Give me a break!!!! NYCMatt is an arrogant asshole, always bragging "Board President here....." From what I've read, and I've read a lot of his bull, he doesn't know his ass from his elbow (or the proverbial hole in the ground). You'd think from his pontificating that he might be the President of 820 Fifth Avenue, rather than the Morningside Heights hole he resides in. Am I bitter? ABSOLUTELY.

Starting to get more worried about aboutready. It's not like her to not check in from her vacations. She and her kids, I hope they are ok. Or did one of her kids end up doing something bad to her. I pray not and that this silence is just for some good benign reason.

"Poor Riccardo, he started off with so much pluck, hopefulness and goodwill and then you people beat the joy from him and forced him to flee."

So very true. I saw how pathetic, lonely and miserable most New Yorkers are. Pretending to be so very cutting edge, sophisticated and cool, but envious of anyone with even a modicum of success and joy. Still adore the architecture, made a bundle from the sale of my little NYC pad, and am most happy to be here in my beloved San Francisco. You are freezing your asses off, and I am warm and basking in the lovely sunshine. Eat your hearts out, my dears.

Ric - when did you sell in NYC? I thought you were looking for ages and ultimately decided not to buy. Glad you managed to make some money on the sale!

Anyway, there's many kind people on Streeteasy - even some of the snarks are ultimately good hearted. A lot of people on the boards gave you valuable advice when you were looking for a pre-war apartment in Chelsea, but you let a few bad apples spoil the bunch.

fieldschester I like you, and I mean it. Yes, the weather is usually cool and foggy here in San Fran, but if you look, you'll see we've had unseasonably warm weather like you'd find in Los Angeles. A few weeks ago it was "cold," freezing for us at 38-42. We are in for a serious drought -- short showers, etc.

And Buster, you are right that I shouldn't judge everyone because there are a few nasty, bad apples. It brings out the nastiness in me, and -- all joking aside -- I've been trying to be a nicer person. Which is which I ran back here with my tail between my legs. I adore New York and really wish I could have made it work. Think I should give it another chance??????????????????

There is a "right" answer to this question.

Manhattan, Manhattan, Manhattan, of course. West Village, Chelsea, Upper West Side, Upper East Side, Murray Hill, Gramercy Park.

I hope this is the right answer and that I don't incur your wrath.....................
