Discussion about
they say it's only temporary but I bet if they get more feedback, they'll keep it up.
Where?
I hope the few weeks turns into a few years
GG, you said this is two different places, but I'm not seeing the old site anywhere. What do you mean?
StreetEasy, if you're reading this, what is wrong with you that you aren't restoring the old site after getting a tidal wave of fiercely angry feedback? What do you think you are doing?!
On top of the sales page there's now an option to click to access the prior version.
the new site looked terrible and was not as useful. keep the classic site.
streeteasy is a good thing as is - if you (Zillow) want to make a new site then make a spin-off separate site but keep streeteasy as is. that way you preserve your market in streeteasy and can still play around making new things to satisfy yourselves.
I can see the link like Aboutready can.
Thanks to the team at streeteasy for listening to feedback, but "Our original site will remain available for a few more weeks." better be a joke.
Yes, we are actually pretty nice people who do listen. We still have many kinks to work out, especially with IE, and certainly want to make sure that all of the info from the old site is accessible. We absolutely understand that some people are having trouble, and that's the last thing we want. And yes, of course we want feedback, so keep it coming.
We've had many months to work with the new design, we use the site every day, and we like it. We hope you will too.
So by popular demand ;-)

Love it! Sooo much better. Pretty please, won't you keep the old site???
It was wise of StreetEasy to offer the classic version. Thank you for doing that. The Streeteasy folks are a good group of people and they have delivered a consistent product for a long time and it's fairly evident the handling of this might have been out of their control. I might be out of place making such assumptions, but I've been down this road in the past with business and its pretty evident that Zillow might have gotten their hands on their shinny new toy and 100% failed to consider their core users. They also failed to understand that there are some serious SERIOUS!! real estate junkies in this town.
Many of us aren't opposed to some change and at least now they can spend a couple weeks testing the new system and at some point merge the two together, hopefully in a form that doesn't resemble a home or furniture blog. Like I said the other day, it seems that virtually every product or internet platform is moving towards a dashboard like format. This whole airy website idea is on its way out, which makes it rather shocking to see this done with Streeteasy. Everywhere you go, it's about more content is a smaller place. NYTimes, NYMAG and many other home pages maximize this strategy very well. Streeteasy was almost a pioneer in this sense.
I am willing to bet a few of the Streeteasy folks warned Zillow that there are some serious real estate junkies in NYC. Zillow even said that no one could crack the code here except for Streeteasy. Zillow is apparently not well liked in most places, and it's not that difficult to see why at this point. I can however, understand their market outside of New York. There are few broker sites of quality and retrieving information is all, but impossible. I tried calling about a listing in the Catskills a few years back and after finally getting the broker on the phone he told me that house was rented, like 6 months ago, but still listed, upside down photos and all. The Zillow broker-like platform works well to close the gap in those cases, I suppose. They basically beautify a train wreck and mirror a broker site, hence their "zip code specialist." What they failed to understand is that New York has a serious SERIOUS!! brokerage business and brokers here take it to an entirely different level. If a listing photo or floor plan isn't perfect, that person is fired. No joke. Furthermore, you go outside New York and you ask for information and brokers lie or no one is really willing to tell you the truth. Another difference in New York is that most brokers support Streeteasy and most encourage transparency. What happens here, happens no where else. No one has time for BS.
You have an entirely different mindset in New York. 95% of the population are like real estate zombies. No joke and that's not a bad thing, but it is what it is. The New York market doesn't require another "broker-like" website. It just needed a page like Streeteasy's home page with just a bunch of numbers slopped on it. That's what we like over here. Sorry to break that news to the Zillow people. Not everything needs to be pretty. We can look at plenty of closet photos on Apartment Therapy. In the meantime, thanks for listening. No joke, you may have just saved your $50mm investment.
Please consider: 1.) Providing all the information of the building on 1 page, this makes easier for the reader to analyze the data (sales, listings, contract, rentals).
2.) Floorplans with the unit info and not on a different page, saves many clicks and precious time.
3.) The way data was presented in the original site is more easier to read and analyze. The new format looking at the same data takes longer to read. Had a headache the first time reading.
4.) The new format is like reading a book from the back to front. Takes longer time to perform the same task, not effective and source of all the users problems.
5.) Please keep the new site close to its original use, and I promise to click ads every time I visit the site.
*I have posted few more comments but they are in review for 3 days. Please let this go through.
Please give us the option of keeping the original format when you do eventually switch over. As evidenced by the strong reaction on this forum, I think that you will find that most users, including "insiders", prefer it.
Thanks, StreetEasy!
I just sent private feedback. I think you guys are great and very responsive but I want the old site back too. The new one is actually more difficult to use then easier. It is all spread out and requires too much scrolling. I am contemplating giving up my subscription because it is just too cumbersome to work through. Sorry SE....
Me too. Please keep the old version up. Thanks!!
Thanks for restoring the 'old' link. Infinitely better!!!!
Thank you for restoring the older, and FAR FAR BETTER Streeteasy!
Actually doesn't seem as if they're restored all of the older and better SE. Just do a property search and their awful new page comes up - still can't see history of the property,(previous sales, listing prices, etc.) which is one of the KEY features of SE
The real StreetEasy is back!
I think SE should experiment in lesser markets, like C0lumbia C0unty, before rolling out to NYC.
oh look.
its hfscomm1
Agree with Nah. We were thinking of relocating to the Midwest and were shocked at little Zillow and other services could provide to help you make an educated decision on a purchase. Brokers waffled when asked for the missing information. Used SE to help in our decision on downsizing in NYC.
I need help. I cannot access my dashboard at all. I can't see my listings. THIS WEBSITE HAS MAJOR ISSUES FOR ME AND I PAY WAY TOO MUCH TO NOT HAVE ACCESS!!!! Can anyone tell me how to get into my dashboard?
Why are you still paying? The site is free now.
Not for agents with Pro status. That little icon costs money: http://streeteasy.com/faq#faq_answer_75
N.B.: One of the ways Streeteasy markets pro status is with a promise of faster tech support.
Would love to see "post-Zillow" traffic stats for site. I'd bet they're down a lot. Miss the good old format.
and miss the number of posts in the "Discussions" section (or whatever you want to call it).
I've never understood why SE didn't post listings into a side advertisement in this forum section based on your previous searches etc.....
I find it difficult to find the correct links to hit on the new site. Flipping between an individual listing and the building it is in takes hunting around. Looking for prior sales takes more hunting. The sales history of the until take scrolling. There is absolutely nothing I find improved. It seems like change for change's sake without benefit and actual deterioration of user experience. Just awful. How do you screw something like this up so badly?

would love to get some of the regular's feedback on the new UD I soft launched last week. 10+yrs in the making..probably will start marketing it in early Nov; still want to finish some stuff out. I just tried to run a search and it asked me to register. Before I go through the bother, could you tell me if c0lumbiac0unty is already registered to someone?
Registering is free and is via your email address. You just wont be able to create reports or use the comps tool to make adjustments or the bldg trends tool. To unlock those we have a lite version for consumers and then a pro version for brokers.
Hey All - thanks for all the wonderful feedback. Keep it coming!
Try it now FC:
