What I wrote in my, "Huge Erections", thread about a week ago:
WTC vs. Banksy.
Banksy calls the WTC “104 floors of compromise”, and a “shy skyscraper”, and says “the terrorist have won”. What do you think?
Personally, although this may offend some, I’ve felt that way and didn’t know how to express it, and think it is a poor and compromised design. Moving the emphasis to Midtownn with the new supertalls balances the sky line putting the apex in the middle of the island.
IEB, I have felt the same way about the WTC ever since they started rebuilding it. Whatever they went with, it should have been bigger and taller than the original.
I believe -- according to numerous polls, a clear majority of New Yorkers also believe -- that they should have rebuilt the twin towers exactly as they were.
New Yorkers didn't want a maudlin "memorial" -- they wanted things back the way they were.

Should they have built them on exactly the same spot? Should they have used the old building codes instead of the current ones? Should they have built the buildings with the old 90 degree angles which were prone to create the extreme winds?
Should they have built them on exactly the same spot? Yup.

And they should have invited Philippe Petit to inaugurate them.
